The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) today joined other State Agricultural Corporations in the signing of the 2025/2026 Performance Contract at Ocean Beach Resort & Spa, marking a key milestone in strengthening accountability and enhancing service delivery within the agricultural sector.
The exercise was presided over by the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Sen. Mutahi Kagwe, and attended by AFA Chairman Hon. Cornelly Serem and Acting Director General Mr. Calistus Kundu, alongside leaders from various state agencies.
The signing of the Performance Contract underscores the Government’s commitment to promoting a results-based management approach across public institutions. For AFA, the Performance Contract outlines strategic priorities focused on enhancing agricultural value chains, promoting value addition, and supporting sustainable agricultural practices. The framework also aligns the Authority’s objectives with national development goals, reinforcing its role in advancing food security and economic growth.
Speaking during the event, leaders emphasized the importance of accountability and continuous performance improvement in driving transformation within the sector. The initiative is expected to enhance institutional effectiveness while ensuring that public resources are utilized efficiently to deliver tangible benefits to Kenyan farmers.
