The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) emerged the winner of the prestigious Chairman’s Cup, a major recognition that highlights the Authority’s excellence in exhibition, innovation, and effective dissemination of agricultural information during the 2026 Eldoret ASK show. This underscores AFA’s commitment in strengthening its mandate of regulating, developing, and promoting scheduled crops across Kenya’s agricultural value chains.
The Chairman’s Cup is awarded to institutions that demonstrate outstanding interpretation of the show theme through informative displays, innovation, and effective engagement with stakeholders.

Speaking after touring the stand, the Authority’s Acting Director General Mr. Calistus Kundu expressed delight at the achievement, attributing the success to the collective effort by AFA staff. “ASK changes themes every year, which means AFA must continually align with current agricultural show requirements, including theme interpretation,” the Acting DG said, noting that the exhibition provided a valuable platform for the Authority to showcase its regulatory and development roles to stakeholders.
In addition to the Chairman’s Cup, AFA scooped the first position in theme interpretation and also secured second position in the Best Local Stand in Strategies of International Trade and Exports category, and the Best Agricultural-Based Statutory Board category.

Ahead of the official opening of the show, the Chief Guest, Jonathan Bii Chelilim, Governor of Uasin Gishu County, visited the Authority’s exhibition stand accompanied by AFA Chairman Hon. Connelly Serem, Board Members Dr. Rosebellah Langat and Samwel Onyango Ong’ow and several officials from the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK). During the visit, Hon. Serem highlighted AFA’s ongoing efforts to promote compliance with industry standards, strengthen agricultural value chains, and support initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and improving farmer incomes. He noted that the Authority continues to champion programs that contribute to national food security while advancing climate-smart agriculture.
