Agriculture Principal Secretary Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh today presided over the official opening of the 1st National Cashew Conference 2026, held under the theme “Revive and Thrive: Unleashing Kenya’s Cashew Potential.”
The conference, hosted by the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA), brought together a wide range of stakeholders across the cashew value chain, including farmers, policymakers, investors, and development partners. The forum provided a platform for dialogue on sustainable growth, investment opportunities, innovation, and practical strategies aimed at revitalizing Kenya’s cashew subsector.
In his address, Dr. Ronoh reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to restoring the sector’s productivity and competitiveness. He emphasized ongoing efforts to support farmers through the provision of high-quality seedlings, improved agronomic practices, and targeted interventions designed to boost yields and enhance livelihoods.

The discussions also focused on strengthening value addition, improving market access, and encouraging private sector investment to unlock the full economic potential of the cashew industry.
The event was attended by AFA Chairman Hon. Cornelly Serem, Matuga Member of Parliament Hon. Kassim Tandaza, Makueni County Deputy Governor H.E. Lucy Mulili, and AFA Acting Director General Mr. Calistus Kundu, alongside farmers and other key stakeholders.
The conference marks a significant step in aligning national and county efforts toward building a resilient, competitive, and sustainable cashew subsector that contributes to food security, income generation, and economic growth.
