The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) participated in the Somalia–Kenya & Diaspora Trade Week held at BBS Mall in Eastleigh, Nairobi, a strategic platform designed to strengthen cross-border trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Kenya, Somalia, and the diaspora community.
The Trade Week brought together business leaders, investors, policymakers, and members of the diaspora to explore emerging opportunities, forge strategic partnerships, and accelerate sustainable economic growth across key sectors, including agriculture, trade facilitation, logistics, and value addition.
Throughout the engagement, discussions focused on enhancing bilateral trade relations, addressing non-tariff barriers, and establishing mechanisms to streamline customs procedures and improve market access between the two nations. Stakeholders emphasized the importance of policy harmonization, private sector collaboration, and diaspora engagement in unlocking regional trade potential.

AFA’s participation underscored the Authority’s commitment to promoting Kenya’s agricultural value chains and expanding export opportunities for farmers and agribusiness enterprises. By engaging regional and international partners, AFA continues to support efforts aimed at opening new markets, strengthening trade linkages, and positioning Kenyan agricultural products competitively within the East African and Horn of Africa markets.
The event reaffirmed the shared commitment between Kenya and Somalia to deepen economic integration, enhance regional collaboration, and foster inclusive growth that benefits producers, traders, and consumers across borders.
