The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) has placed Kenya on the global map after being recognized for excellence in Digital Transformation Initiatives at the 6th Africa Public Sector Conference and Awards, held in Cape Town, South Africa.
The prestigious award celebrates AFA’s innovative use of technology to enhance efficiency, transparency, and service delivery within Kenya’s agricultural sector. The Authority’s presentation focused on the Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) — a digital platform designed to streamline operations across its directorates, improve data-driven decision-making, and strengthen stakeholder engagement throughout the value chain.
By showcasing the IMIS, AFA demonstrated how digital innovation within Africa’s public sector can drive meaningful transformation and create lasting impact. The system integrates regulatory, licensing, and monitoring functions to ensure faster service delivery, promote compliance, and support national agricultural development goals.
The Africa Public Sector Conference and Awards brings together C-level executives, policymakers, development partners, and senior leaders from both the public and private sectors to champion reform and innovation in governance. The 2025 edition featured discussions on the future of digital governance, sustainability, and the role of technology in advancing public sector excellence across the continent.
AFA’s recognition at this continental forum reaffirms its leadership in embracing digital transformation as a catalyst for agricultural growth. Through the IMIS and other technology-driven initiatives, the Authority continues to align with Kenya’s Digital Transformation Agenda and the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), ensuring agriculture remains a driver of inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
