The Agriculture and food Authority joined hundreds of families and victims of road accidents in commemorating the World Day of Remembrance for Road traffic Victims in Eldoret Uasin-Gishu county. The 2025 event themed lost talent drew together government agencies, the Judiciary and private sector, among other stakeholders in the transport sector. Participants congregated for a candle lighting exercise and took part in a procession along the streets of Eldoret town in remembrance of the departed souls.

AFA’s participation underscores its commitment to social responsibility where many road crash victims are a part of its extended value chain mostly affecting transportation of agricultural produce.
The Authority’s involvement is more than symbolic. While it is primarily tasked with regulating the crops value chain, it also oversees key aspects of the food supply chain particularly undisrupted deliveries that destroy produce, and jeopardize livelihoods. National Transport and Safety Authority’s data shows that approximately 4,758 people lost their lives on Kenyan roads in 2024. These numbers are not just statistics, they represent lives lost, families shattered, and value chain disruptions that ripple through the agricultural sector and beyond.
