The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) actively participated in the National Tree Planting Exercise at Luuya Primary and Secondary Schools and Mabanga Agricultural Training Center, distributing and planting 20,000 coffee seedlings and 5,000 assorted forest tree seedlings.
This impactful initiative aligns with the Presidential Directive to grow 15 billion trees by 2032, contributing to the fight against deforestation and enhancing Kenya’s forest cover. It also fulfills part of AFA’s Performance Contract (PC) obligations on environmental sustainability.
The event was graced by Bungoma Senator Hon. David Wafula Wakoli, Chairman of Mabanga ATC, and AFA Food Crops Directorate Director Mr. Calistus Efukho.
Also present were Kenya Forest Service (KFS) officers, school principals and students, local leaders, farmers, and the AFA team.
