Nandi County Governor, H.E. Hon. Stephen Sang, EGH, presided over Farmer’s Field Day at Koimet Coffee Factory in Aldai, co-hosted by the Agriculture and Food Authority and the Nandi County Government.
Themed “Clean Planting Materials for Increased Productivity,” the event aimed to equip farmers with skills and knowledge to boost production and productivity.
The Chairman AFA Hon. Cornelly Serem, represented by Director Daniel Kitivo OGW, said that AFA, through stakeholder collaboration, is committed to ensuring farmers receive good-quality planting material.
The Director General Dr. Bruno Linyiru, OGW, represented by Director – HCD Christine Chesaro, affirmed that the Authority is also working to address challenges, foster a supportive regulatory environment and enhance market access to improve farmers’ incomes.
During the event, Governor Sang commissioned the distribution of 60,000 coffee seedlings and 20,000 avocado seedlings to promote coffee and avocado farming in the county. This Seedling provision, supported by the Authority is part of its ongoing interventions in various sub-sectors to enhance production, productivity, and farm incomes
Other leaders present were the CEC Agriculture, Nandi County Dr. Kiplimo Lagat, Deputy County Commissioner, AFA Management, MCA’s, among others.
