The Directorate is established under the Agriculture and Food Authority Act No. 16 of 2013. The Directorate mandate is to develop, promote and regulate the Nuts & Oil Crops sub-sector in Kenya as per the Crops (Nuts & Oil Crops) Regulations, 2020. As a lead agency, it is responsible for the development and implementation of policies and strategies that enhance the production, processing, and marketing of Nuts & Oil Crops as guided by the Crops Act 2013. The Directorate works in collaboration with various Government ministries departments and agencies, development partners, the private sector and other stakeholders to ensure that the sub-sector operates efficiently and sustainably for economic growth. The Directorate facilitates domestic, regional and international trade.
