Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) proudly participated in the Devolution Conference 2025, held last week, where national leaders, county governments, development partners, and citizens gathered to chart Kenya’s development agenda. The opening day of the conference was marked by a dynamic exchange of ideas, strategic partnerships, and innovations that are shaping the future of agriculture and sustainable development in Kenya. AFA showcased its initiatives at Stand 319, highlighting key programs in sustainable agriculture, agricultural value chains, food security, and climate-smart practices. These initiatives reflect the Authority’s mandate to promote agricultural transformation and strengthen Kenya’s position as a leader in agro-based economic growth.
During the conference, AFA engaged with stakeholders on the critical role of agriculture in driving Kenya’s economy. Discussions centered on value addition, market access, agricultural innovation, and policies that support farmers and agribusinesses. The Authority demonstrated how its work in different crop directorates—ranging from food crops and industrial crops to coffee, tea, and horticulture—aligns with the government’s strategic focus on food security and economic empowerment. By sharing practical solutions and best practices, AFA reaffirmed its commitment to working with county governments and development partners to scale up agricultural productivity and improve livelihoods across the country.

The Devolution Conference also provided a platform for building partnerships that will advance sustainable agriculture in Kenya. AFA emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing sector challenges such as climate change, post-harvest losses, and limited market access, while creating opportunities for farmers through value addition and innovation. Through its participation, the Authority positioned agriculture as a cornerstone of devolution and a key driver of Kenya’s socio-economic transformation.
As Kenya continues to implement its national development goals, the Agriculture and Food Authority remains committed to strengthening agricultural value chains, supporting smallholder farmers, and promoting sustainability and inclusivity in the sector. The discussions and partnerships established during the Devolution Conference 2025 will play a central role in ensuring that agriculture continues to drive food security, climate resilience, and economic growth for communities across the country.
