Agriculture and Food Authority through Food Crops Directorate began a capacity building forum for sorghum value chain players in Kibwezi, Makueni County.
The training brought together farmers, processors, and farmer groups to strengthen knowledge on value addition technologies, market access, and product improvement. This included a live demonstration of how sorghum is used as a tea additive and also as a food product in stews and baked products such as cakes and mandazi.
This initiative supports the promotion of sorghum as a key food security crop and source of income in Makueni and Kitui Counties, aligning with AFA’s mandate to develop, regulate, and promote scheduled food crops.
