The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA), through its Fibre Crops Directorate, convened a National Validation Workshop on June 17, 2025, at the Sarova Panafric Hotel in Nairobi. The event brought together key stakeholders in the fibre crops sector to review the Draft Crops (Fibre Crops and Crop Fibres) Regulations, 2025, along with the accompanying Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS).
This workshop followed earlier public notices published in the Kenya Gazette and national newspapers, which invited stakeholders to provide input on the proposed regulatory framework. The validation session marked a key step in the public participation process, aimed at ensuring the regulations are inclusive, practical, and responsive to industry needs.
Participants included fibre crop growers, processors, county government officials, researchers, and development partners. Discussions focused on aligning the draft regulations with current market dynamics, supporting sustainable production, and enhancing regulatory clarity across the value chain.
